Hi Jeremy, since the share plugin does not support using our own icons (i.e. the 'in' icon) I wanted to use the deprecated shareArticle API, however this old API is erroring out on iPhone devices. Would be very helpful if we could use our own images for the share plugin, as well as pass on parameters for the link title and summary which the shareArticle API allowed.

Also having similar issues with the Share button APi as the deprecated shareArticle APi : when I click on a share button link via iPhone, it results in an error. Works fine on a desktop. Is this a known issue?

Are there any recommended workarounds in the mean time? Is it possible to "switch" a user agent when an iPhone user clicks on a link, to be treated as if they were visiting from a desktop browser?

I have your InShare buttons on all my blog posts, but in the past few days they've all gone blank. The "IN" still appears, but the rest of the button is completely blank now, and my counts are starting to disappear, too. And the counts don't just read zero -- that portion of the button has just disappeared from the screen altogether. It's like some kind of cascade failure, because every day the problem only gets worse.

I just looked myself, and the buttons have come back for me, too. But I'm still seeing some that have no associated counts, though all blog posts had associated counts several days ago. And one post shows a count of only 1, though it had a count of 12 before I started having this problem.

How could all the InShare buttons and most of the counts have disappeared (at least on my end) for several days and then returned, but with incorrect or completely missing counts?

My browser is Firefox 8.0 and OS is Mac OS X Leopard.

Hi Jeremy -- Have you gotten a chance to look deeper into the button issues I'm still finding on my blog? I just checked it again, and another button count that was missing yesterday has again reappeared, but several that were there a few days ago are still missing, and the count that was listed at 12 before all this started is still showing only 1. I've also checked the site using three browsers -- Firefox, Camino, and Safari -- and I'm seeing the same issues with every one.

We’re experiencing similar issues when trying to share content through our group’s discussion forum. The issue occurs as follows:

1. We are attempting to use the share button in the discussion forum of our LinkedIn group.

2. A link is attached and the URL loads successfully. However, the share button appears shaded and is non-functioning. The discussion can not be shared and if you select to edit the information affiliated with the URL, it can not be saved.

Hi Jeremy -- Was a ticket opened with your engineering team regarding the ongoing issues I'm having with my blog? As listed above, most of my InShare counts are still either completely missing or incorrect. Again, if someone has a fix for this, I would certainly appreciate it.

I was able to fix the issue in my case by adding the same image under body section of html. otherwise it was an empty body and the html has only meta tags. after this change the thumbnail image is getting displayed during share.

I am trying to figure out why the basic Share button script is not working as expected. I have the OG tags to set title, url and description and in my script I am not setting data-url.
It was my understanding that it is supposed to grab it from the og meta tags. I've tested this in firefox, safari and chrome.

By the way, I have website/code running on my local server instance.

I've had the same issue with my site (http://www.trafoshare.com).
1) The methods are the plugin on my site and then I tried to share directly from my LinkedIn profile. None of them worked. I shared other sites and it worked, no problem.
2) To reproduce the error, just try to share the link to the website. The message I get is: "There was a problem performing this action, please try again later". When I try to share directly from LinkedIn, I get: "We were unable to post your update. Please try again later".
3) System: Windows XP and Windows 7. Browsers: IE, Chrome & Firefox

"We're sorry. Something unexpected happened and your request could not be completed. Please try again." I'm using the most recent version of Google Chrome and also IE. The same problem occurs with both browsers. Please advise? This is a new problem today. Always worked in the past.....

Hi Jeremy - there's a problem with the share function on the LinkedIn site itself. The problem occurs when trying to share a connection's text-only update (as distinct from an update which points to a URL - that works fine). I've tried it on a machine running Windows 7 Professional with both IE version 9 (32- and 64-bit) and Firefox 8.0 (caches have been cleared), so it appears to be brower independent.

Here's the problem: if you click on the share link below a contact's update, either the "share this update" dialog box never comes up, or it comes up for a brief second then disappears, with the following error message appearing at the top of the LinkedIn webpage (I can send you a screen grab if you like):

"We're sorry. Something unexpected happened and your request could not be completed. Please try again."

It's easy to replicate - just find any of your own contacts who have a text-only update (again, not one that points to a URL, such as an article or website they've shared) and click on the share link below that update and you'll experience the same problem.

Though I don't imagine I'm the first, I did report it to LinkedIn's Customer Support yesterday and received the standard "Thanks for contacting us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible."

On my website, I've got a blog homepage that shows a linkedin share button on each article. I call the javascript api once, and the buttons multiple times.

on a single post page, I've got the Digg Digg plugin, so I don't call the Api (because the plugin calls it) but I call the button once.

This worked previously, but now none of the linked in buttons are showing. This method works outside of my Wordpress CMS for some reason. I get an error on indvidual blog posts. . .

I have tried to share a link for a Facebook page on LinkedIn, and found 2 problems:

1: The cached thumbnails have been removed about 1 year ago, and are still the only posible choise.

2: When trying to share a facebook page (facebook.com/danskebank), it looks like the description is pulled from facebook.com, and not the specific page.

I've added the Linkedin button (together with other social share plugins) for a client. Because of the setup and number of plugins required we're loading and injecting the plugin scripts into the DOM after page load using requireJS on an https site.
requireJS calls a Javascript called shareWidgets which looks for elements with a matching class name of "li" and injects in any found the script elements required by the plugin code. (I couldn't get the IN.parse() call to work)

I'm absolutely positioning the share buttons in the footer and I'm getting some odd rendering issues with IE 7 & IE 9 on Windows XP. There seems to be additional margin being added before the close of the counter bubble causing issues with the layout with the increased width of the share button.

ecently We're seeing different issues with the share button plugin on two our websites.

Website 1. http://globalriskcommunity.com. A popup will load on click and we are able to select groups and click on the Share button. After the click we get the message that content was shared successfully. After actual checking we see that our content has not been delivered to the majority of the groups.
